Second Chance

Today was the day. Her second chance. Adam drove her to the company. As she was still wearing her plaster for her lower leg and therefore, still was walking on crutches she wouldn’t have been able to driver herself anyway, forgetting the aspect that her car was dead since the accident. But still she was glad she didn’t have to anyway.

Trisha couldn’t get this damn stupid smile out of her face. Adam wished her good luck and let her get out of the car. ‘I will be in the coffeshop around the corner, Baby.’ ‘Ok.’ She made her way on her sprags to the main entrance and entered it.

The Entrance Hall was quiet impressing, exactly as she had imagened it. She walked up to the reception and introduced herself to the receptionist. The woman looked up with one eye, looked down again. "Miss, I have a job interview here in about 15 Minutes and I would be glad if you could call the assistant of Mr Pearson." The receptionist looked up again, this time with both eyes and check out Trisha from head to tow and back. Slowly she moved her hand toward the telephone and dialed a number.

Five minutes later she sat in the reception room of Mr Pearson’s office being pretty nervous. She still hadnt figured out why she got a second chance but she was ready to do her most possible to get the position. Any position. Then Mr Pearson appeared. He lead her to a confernce room at the end of the hallway. There she met some other people tied up in suits. Trisha didnt know that there would be so many people to question her. But she didnt ask any questions. After they sat down, Trish on one end of the table, Mr Pearson at the other end by the suitguys, the job interview started.

Two hours later, Adam was still wondering where Trisha was when he saw her entering the coffee shop accross from Splitterfon Ltd. She looked exhausted. He stood up and helped her to the table. ‘Everything all right? That went quiet long! Did you get the job?’ ‘Can I first have a cup of strong coffee please?’

After Adam returned with a double Espresso Trish started to tell him about the interview. ‘Adam, I dont have a good feeling about it. I mean, they wanted to know things about my past life I even cant remember. I haven’t known that a job interview can be so exhausting. They were like an inquisition, gathering every bit of information. I mean, what am I? A criminal?’

Adam reached out to hold Trishas hand. ‘Hey sweety, I mean you can feel honored that you got a second chance. I mean, who can say that from them? And as long as you have no answer, just say yourself it is a good sign. Be patient, I have learned that in my life.’ Trish looked at Adam, ‘Very funny....!’ ‘Why?’ Adam looked at her with his childish innocent face look. ‘Stop it!’ Trish said, starting to smile, ‘you know exactly why’. Now she couldn’t hold back and started to laugh. All the pressure from the last couple of days fell of. She felt like a new born human being. All her worries, concerns etc were gone. She felt free and able to do whatever she pleased to do. Adam and Trisha stayed for about another 2 hours in the coffee shop before they left.
