She thought about the past few weeks, so much had happened, she hardly belived it. Just e.g Chris, that was so funny, thinking about it now but back then... they had started to meet for her lunchbreak in the park, After one week, they decided to go out together. Trish didnt deny that she had a crush on him. Of course what she didnt realise was that Chris was gay. She had to figure it out the hard way, meaning she found out when he introduced her to his boyfriend. Lucky enough for her she didnt had the chance yet to do whatever she had planned this evening to persuade Chris of her. She felt like a complete fool that she hadnt realised it earlier. But damn, why does this rule just have to be right all the time??? All the best looking guys were gay. Merde! Anyway, after this, hm, lets say problem was clear between them the friendship just grew stronger. Chris himself was afraid of her reaction, he had made so many bad experiences that he simply wasnt sure how Trisha was going to react on this. Trisha on her side has never had any problems with gay men, as in fact, she has had so much fun with the few she has ever met. She enjoyed going out with them as they were much more uncomplicated as many women.
Concering work, she didnt know what to do. She really enjoyed it, except for Mike. He had from time to time this behaviour of being a real asshole. She didnt know what she must have done wrong but as an example last week he came to her and again asked her for a report she just had handed in. He said he hasnt received it yet. Trish said that she has placed it on his desk right next to the phone. Both of them searched the whole office for it, but no report was found. Trish said she will print it out again. She went to her place and wanted to open the file, but miracously as well there it has vanished. How was this possible? Mike then accused her of not having done her work, yelled at her, insulted her and left her completely astonished at her desk. Nearly out of the office, he yelled at her again by saying he wants the report by noon. Trisha had to hold back her tears, her co-workers hided again behind her screen and pretended not to have noticed anything. This was just one incident. There were many more, stuff that was suddenly missing from her desk, incomplete files and so on.
Trisha shook her head, it was her birthday today, she didnt want to ruin it by thinking about all this. Oh how lovely this morning was. Her plans for today were, thinking about it, nothing. Just relaxing, maybe she went for a wee shopping tour buying herself a present and then go rent a movie and make some popcorn and just play couch potato. Awesome!
Her telephone started to go off. Shall it! She stayed where she was, if there was anything, they could speak on her answering machine. It was Chris. Trish grabbed the receiver and answered it. For him she made an excuse.
‘Hi hon, how your doing. I called at work and they said that you took the day off. Anything special?’
‘No, not really’, she lied at him, ‘ I just didnt feel like working today.’ ‘Oh good, I already thought your sick or something. Listen, I have a big favor to ask you. I, aehm, my brothers having a huge party tonight and aehm, well’, he paused. ‘Yes?’ Trisha asked. ‘Aehm, ok, would you please join me?’ Trisha looked at the phone. ‘What about Ben? Doesnt he have time?’ Trisha asked back. Ben was Chris boyfriend. Chris seemed quiet nervous on the other end, didnt really know how to react. Then Trisha suddenly realised, ‘your family doesnt know your gay, do they?’ ‘No, they dont’, Chris signed, ‘when I was young they always told us that being gay is something horrible, that they are glad that their kids are normal folks and as I am already the black sheep in our family being an artist, they would for sure shoot me if they ever found out. Thats why I avoid going home. I mean, dont understand me wrong, I really love my family, but for that they would have no understanding. They extremely conservative. And they are bugging me to introduce them finally to my ‘Girlfriend’. I mean, I made some comments in front of John, my brother, that I have finally met someone, and of course he told them and, aehm, I think you can figure out the rest.’ Trisha indeed could figure out the rest. ‘But why me?’ ‘Aehm, because you are informed and I, aehm, well I have to go there and they sort of said that I, aehm, I must bring my girlfriend with me otherwise...’, Chris really felt unconfortable to ask Trisha for such a favor. ‘But Chris, I cannot do that, I mean, they will figure it out quite fast that I am not what I pretend to be. I mean, we know each other nearly two weeks, and they will ask me things I cannot answer. On the other side, what does Ben think about this? Isnt he disappointed about it?’ Trisha didnt know what to do. I mean, she really liked Chris and for any other thing she would have just said yes. But being his girlfriend and then for the first time already meeting his parents, she didnt know. ‘Look, can I come over and then we can discuss it’. ‘OK.’ Chris already had hung up.
