Trisha hurried to the bathroom, trying to avoid this charismatic man who unfortuantely had to be the brother of her so-called boyfriend. She nearly made it when she got stopped by a hand of her shoulders. ‘What are you doing here?`Oh my gosh, whats now, she wondered and turned around. No, this cannot be. ‘Mike? You here?’ more she didnt say. ‘Yes, of course, I mean, either you are here or you are squared. It is THE party in the high society. So if you get an invitation you just take it and go, not asking questions. But how you made it here is a wonder. With whom did you sleep to be his partner?’ he asked with a huge smile trying to be funny. Trish though did not think that this comment was funny at all and turned away saying that this was none of his business at all, glad being able to escape to the girls washroom.
In safetey, she sat down and made a resume of the whole evening. Then she shook her head, wondering how she managed to get into troubles like this all the time. And now it was not even her fault. Ok, she played Chris girlfriend, but hey, I mean, understandable that he could not admit in front of his family being gay. With such a brother? I guess I would have escaped to South Africa, far far away from him. And what the hell was Mike doing here? The last person she needed to see after giving her such a hard time at work. She hadnt realised how long she must have been away, but suddenly Marie was standing in front of her. ‘Hey, everything ok. We started to miss you.’ ‘Oh, I havent realised how fast the time passed. I am sorry if I made you worry.’ ‘Hey, you didn’t make us worry, ok actually you did. But then, I know how long it sometimes can take for preparing make up.’ She smiled at Trish again. How can somebody have such a lovingly brother and such an adorable sister and being an asshole himself, Trisha thought by herself. Well, thats life. They both fought their way back to their table, where their men were waiting for them. ‘Everything clear?’ ‘Yes Chris, I am fine. I just run into Mike, my boss.’ ‘Oh fu..’. ‘Watch your tongue.’ ‘Sorry.’ Marie and Marc looked at each other. What was going on here. Then Trish started to explain.
‘Poor you,’ Marie said afterwards and Marc was just mumbling something. ‘Folks, I don’t know how it is with you, but I am hungry now and I would be pleased if somebody could tell me what to do to get something to eat here.’ Both men were up on their feet right away. ‘What a keyword,’ Chris said and was looking at Trish. She smiled at him, for the first time since they had arrived. ‘Well, I guess food is always a good topic if you want to change the old one.’ Now all started to laugh, which brought them some curious glimps from the other guest standing near them. They didn’t care. They entered the evening buffet.
One and a half hour later they where sitting at the table, enjoying the second coffee and felt completely happy. This could be a funny evening after all, Trish was thinking. Marie and Marc were really great and made her feel more than welcome. John she had just seen from far away, busy shaking hands, paying each guest the essential attention.
Mike on the other hand was lingering around her. But he did not come close to her. This was completely ok for her and soon after she had forgotten about him.
Another 30 minutes passed and then the whole group decided to enjoy the lovely view they had over Los Angeles on the big balcony. Fresh air was now more than welcome. Another 15 minutes later, Marie and Marc left them alone, meaning more that they wanted to spend some time together but then, Trish and Chris didn’t care. They were sitting there, in peace and harmonie, and everybody who saw them like that must have thought they are a happy couple. ‘Your cold?’ Chris noticed Trisha’s shivering. ‘Well, yes, a little, but it is ok.’ Chris took of his jacket and put it around her arms. ‘Thanks. To damn bad that you are’, further she did not come, Chris kissed her.
‘Sorry, aehm, well’, Chris was stuttering. Trish just looked at him. ‘Well, I, aehm.’ Trisha was waiting. Then Chris started to explain. ‘You know, you could make me go straight again if that would be possible, I mean, if I was not, you know.’ Trisha nodded. ‘I mean, aehm.’ Chris looked even cuter when he was flushing, she thought. ‘And the other thing was that my parents and John just entered the balcony, so I mean to keep the play up, well, I hope you are not mad.' He looked at her with his puppy look. Nobody could be angry at him when he looks at you like this. ‘No Chris it is ok, well I mean, which girl gets such complements. I for my part think that it is a special honor coming from you.’ Chris seemed relieved. ‘Shall we go back inside?’ ‘Chris, just go, I rather stay a bit longer outside and enjoy this great view. I mean it is the last time that I have such a chance to see it.’ ‘Ok, but just don’t stay too long, I will miss you!’ Chris twinkled at her and left.
