The Confession

Chris reached the house of his parents just in time to see John leave. Probably he went to his office as would nothing have happen. Chris entered the hallway and met his parents, Marie and Marc having breakfast.

Marie and Marc looked worried at him, his parents, well, they acted as would nothing have happened last night. They are so good in hiding unpleasant things, Chris thought. He greeted everyone, feeling their expecting eyes on him. Then Marie could not hold back any longer. ‘Where is Trish. How is she doing. Could you two speak about what happened last night? What actually happened last night?’ ‘Did John not tell you about it?’ Chris wondered. ‘Well, he mumbled something of you being a fool and always fall for the wrong one but that was it. More he did not tell. I mean, I have never any of you two seen like this before. You know, well, John he acted as, oh I don’t know, it is hard to describe. But somehow he never seemed to give Trisha a chance and then this with Mike. It is so hard to belive. I mean, after all she told us about him and then she went on kissing him?’ Mary hold her breath, she was completely confused. So was the rest of the family. Chris signed.

‘Then I guess it is my turn to tell you what happened the last night. Unfortunately I do not know all the details myself but I can in about imagen what must have happen. But I start from the beginning.’ All nodded and looked at him. So Chris started. ‘Mom, Dad, I know it is hard for you to be going to accept it, but,’ he paused, ‘I am gay.’ His mother took a deep breath. And then Chris kept on telling and telling, how he had met Trisha, and what a good friendship they had started to built up, how he asked her to play his girlfriend, as he did not want to disappoint his parents, what must have happen on the balcony and so on and on.

After he had finished he looked at this parents. They seemed half as shocked as he expected them to be. ‘Dear Chris. We know for a long time that you are gay, we were just waiting for you to tell us. Therefore, that is why we were surprised when you showed up with Trisha last night. Don’t you think we as parents would know their kids fairly well?’ Chris could not believe what he just had heard. All this going through was for nothing? ‘But you always were so, so negative about gay people and that is why I thought that…’ ‘My dear son’, his father said, ‘are you sure it was us?’ Chris thought back about the time when the discussion came up and finally he realised, no. They were not. He made another fool out of himself within 24 hours. How could this be possible.

‘So, as this matter seems to be solved, we have a bigger one to solve right now. And this would be your friend Trisha.’ His mom said, coming right down to the point. ‘Mom, but I guess it is not our turn to solve it,’ Marie said, ‘in my opinion, it has to be John. I mean, I have never seen him act against somebody like this before. Not even to his worst enemies.’ ‘Yes, true, I mean, when Marie introduced me to you, he was reseverd, probably making a note in his brain to check out my background, but always nice and polite’, Marc supported his girlfriend. ‘Then I guess it is time to hear the whole story’, Mr Griffin said and called his eldest son.

Trisha made it out of the shower. How? She could not remember. She just knew she had to go away for the weekend, escape. It was not her normal behaviour, she knew that. Usually she stood for her rights. But then, how could she fight such a man like John. She listened to the messages of Chris. She knew he was sorry for what had happened, but now it was too late. He had brought her into this mess, he should look how she would get out of it again.

Then there was another message on her answering machine. It was Duncan, congratulating her to her birthday and telling her that he was up in San Francisco for the weekend and if she could manage it, he would be pleased to meet her to celebrate it, even if would be too late. Trisha grabbed a few thing she would need for the weekend and headed for her car. Six hours later she entered the lobby of the hotel Duncan was staying at.

Five minutes later, Duncan was taking her into his arms just holding her tide. He felt right away that there must have something terrible had happen and Trisha then started to tell him what.
